Embarcadero just walk along the water many old ships,
downtown overlooking San Diego Yacht Club Rosecrans and Cañon avenues. There are several very steep streets that offer great sunset pictures.
Balboa Park Many places around the park. On the upper end of the park there is a foot suspension bridge over a lush canyon that is lighted year round with the little white Christmas lights. The Prado in Balboa park is also a great photo spot that is lighted at night with white lights.
Sailboats against the downtown skyline drive along Harbor Island Drive, across the street from the Airport.
Mission Beach will offer tons of palm trees, beach goers, and rollerbladers, whatever type of people photos you could be interested in.
The Gas Lamp district is right downtown and stretches about 10 blocks and is lined with fine dining restaurants and a really cool ambiance. There is even a Pacific Theatres built in the old 30's to 40's style complete with chandeliers and a grand staircase.
Torrey Pines State Park offers great views of 300 foot sandstone cliffs and the rare Torrey pine.
Seaport Village and marina area
Coronado Island where there is a wonderful old Victorian style hotel, Hotel Del over the bridge. Also great spot to take San Diego skyline.
Tijuana Estuary for birds in Imperial Beach. I-5 south, Coronado Blvd. west and left at 3rd Street
Lindo Lake in Lakeside great for birds
La Jolla Cove great spot for ocean shots and palm trees. Also in winter, pelicans I-5 south to La Jolla Parkway and left on Torrey Pines Road the right on Prospect. also walk over to the Children's pool near the Cove for the Harbor Seals and their pups in January.
La Jolla coast for your rocks and sunsets Landscapes. The La Jolla Cove area is great. Seals congregate on the beach in the winter and in the morning walk north of the cove for the brown pelicans in breeding plumage

Laguna Mountains around Julian. Don't forget the apple orchards
