Babcock State Park northwest of
Beckley is where the
Glade Creek Grist Mill is. It is probably the most
photographed scenic in West
Virginia. Best in the morning to
noon, for the classic shot park in
the parking lot and walk over the
bridge to the right until your even
with the spill way. For fall colors
try around mid October.
Gauley Bridge Falls
New River Gorge & Bridge, on highway
19.
Watauga State Park is on the
Greenbrier River. It has log cabins
to photograph.
Pipestem State Park has lots of deer
that are used to being around people
so you can get quite close. There
is a restaurant at the bottom of the
gorge which you have to take the
skyride to and from. There is also
lodge at Pipestem.
Cathedral Falls visible from Route 60 just east of Gauley Bridge is very nice depending on river flow.
Hawk's Nest view is good, especially in winter after a good snow. It's only a 5 minute walk from the parking area
at the Hawk's Nest State Park.
Capital building in Charleston
makes a great night shot with the lights reflecting in the water.
Twin Falls State Park
Blackwater falls State Park
New River Gorge Bridge area there are overlooks at the visitors center. There are many old
mining towns in the area. Take the old road it is a one way road with many pull offs.
