Falls of Dismal in Virginia
Covered bridge just west of Covington, Virginia off of I-64 right before
you cross in to West Virginia makes a great shot.
The US Marine Corps monument in Roslyn, just across the Potomac makes a
great scenic. You'll capture the Capitol dome, Washington and Lincoln
Memorials in one shot, as well as the reflections off the Potomac
River.
Parkland along the George Washington Parkway. Parking will be nearly
impossible, so plan on walking from either Roslyn or National Airport
Metro Stations. The bike path runs along the river.
Peak Fall Colors in Virginia is in mid October for lower elevation and mid
September for the mountains of western Virginia.
The best route for fall colors in the mountains is the 105-mile Skyline
Drive that winds south along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains
from Waynesboro to North Carolina.
Route 33, which between Richmond and Charlottesville for lower elevations.
Pocahontas State Park is also a good destination in central Virginia.

Historic Battlefields in Yorktown also can be good for deer and other wildlife.
