Urban hike suggestion about 10 miles long Starting at the famous deli Zabars located between 80th and 81st
street. You can fuel up for this hike with exotic food and some star gazing. Then walk downtown. Linger at
72nd for one of the truly wonderful squares and great architecture. Keep on going and you will go past Lincoln
Center and graze central park. On to Time Square. Proceed through the garment district and end up at Herald
Square, the home of Macy's. Just up 34th is the Empire State Building. Continue through China Town and
eventually the Bowry. Then to the Financial Section, Wall Street and Battery Park. Check out the views of
Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.
Staten Island, take the ferry from Battery Part to Staten Island round trip.

Rockefeller Center.
Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge
Tram at the 59th St. Bridge to Roosevelt Island and back for spectacular city views as you pass over the
East river.

Historical Society constructed for the Pan American Exposition in 1901 it over looks Delaware Lake.

the Grand Canyon of the East, there is a very deep gorge over 600 feet deep carved by the Genesee River.
You can reserve a cabin here and stay for a day (or several) while you tour the area. There is an old
railroad bridge which spans the gorge at the southern and it is a must shoot
Watkins Glen State Park. Along two miles of Walkin Glens stream there are 19 waterfalls. This is best at
sunrise to avoid the crowds.
Taughannock Falls near Ithaca is higher than Niagara Falls.
Anchor Bar in downtown Buffalo for some original Buffalo Chicken wings is a must before you leave Buffalo.
Erie Canal just north of Buffalo in Tonawanda.
Niagara Falls both the US and the
Canadian side of the falls. The Canadian side is the best side to shoot at.
Don’t miss Maid of the Mist and Butterfly House (Canadian) and under the falls in the Cave of the Winds
(American side). You can shoot from various wonderful locations, including the
Skylon
tower (which has a revolving
restaurant at its top level).
Fort Niagara
Bronx:
Eastern Long Island, Montauk, Jones Beach, Amagassett. -- Bear Mountain State Park; particularly where there
are a series of lakes.
Hudson River area just above West Point
Delaware Water Gap east on US 80.
Liberty State Park nice skyline photo of the city and lower Manhattan.
Baddock Bay State Park is north of Lake Ontario Parkway. Take East Manitou Road and follow the signs to the park.
Baddock Bay is located on the south shore of Lake Erie near Rochester, New York. Great for birds
Derby Hill is located on the south shore of Lake Ontario near Oswego, New York. In April Hawks pass here by the
thousands on there north migration. Take Route 81 north of Syracuse to Mexico. Exit go west four miles. Take
Route 3 north, then turn left on Route 104B for one-half mile to Sage Creek Drive. Turn right and drive to end.
Then walk one-quarter mile east to the top of the hill.
Fort Ticonderoga also take a short side trip to the old artillery battery on top of Mt. Hope for a good view of
the Champlain Valley.

Fall Colors in New York peak Late September to early October in Northern New York and first to mid October in
western New York.
Adirondack in early September try Upper Lake, Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Lake George, Racquette River, Lake
Pleasant, Wells, Indian Lake, Prospect Mountain Scenic Highway, Lake Champlain. From Albany take Interstate 87
to Lake George. Take the Prospect Mountain Scenic Highway view of the lake and the surrounding countryside. Then
take Route 9N north along the shores of Lake George to Ticonderoga south end of Lake Champlain. Head north on
Route 9N through Westport and then on Route 22. to the rolling farmlands around Wadhams. In Willsboro there is
a fish ladder and you may be able to see some salmon running up river. At Keeseville take 9N southwest to au
Sable Forks. Take Route 86 from Jay to Wilmington. At Wilmington go to the top of Whiteface Mountain for a
spectacular view looking south to Lake Placid. you could also take the chairlift if you don't want to make
the drive. Continue south on 86 to Lake Placid and then return to Interstate 87 either via Route 9N or Route 73
