North Wildwood is a nice lighthouse on Central Avenue, between First and Chestnut
Streets. Southbound Garden State Parkway traffic can take state road
147 from exit 6 to North Wildwood.'s Pond. Also along Clinton Road to the north
is a short trail to Terrace Pond. Great for flowers.
Hartshorne Woods in Monmouth County (there are some short trails from a parking area on
Navesink Ave. off Route 36) and Lebanon State Forest (off Route 72). Great wild
flowers.
Old Barney lighthouse in long beach:
Blairstown is a hang gliding and hot air balloon center.
Reed's Beach, Moore's Beach and Norbury's Landing great for birds and horseshoe crabs.
Hope. an 18th century Moravian village with an interesting church, gristmill, cemetery
and historic buildings to photograph.
Lakota Wolf Preserve.
The Great Gorge area of New Jersey.
Palisades Parkway stop at the overlooks.
Lambertville and Frenchtown
Sandy Hook National Recreational Area, lighthouse, beach and birds.
Hacklebarney State Park Chester
Kip's Castle near Verona/Montclair, Kip's Castle is an 11 acre estate including a Norman style castle, two story carriage house and skyline views of New York. A close drive from Newark or New York city.
Garret Mountain: West Paterson/Woodland Park, Great views of Paterson NJ and historic Lambert Castle
Fall colors peak in October best locations are in the northwest section of the state.
Try Interstate 80 west to the Pennsylvania border and then north checking out the side
roads along the Delaware River. At High Point Parkyou can see forever. Also
try along Routes 519, 622, and 521 to Blairstown then south to rejoin Interstate 80.
Make this a nice loop drive. Also try Goshen Pass along the Maury River
Also from Netcong to Lake Hopatcong then take Route 206 north to Andover then sounth on
517 through Allamuchy Mountain State Park. Then on Interstate 80 west to exit 12 in
Hope. Then take Route 519 southwest to Route 46 and drive east to Pesquest and follow
Route 46 back through Hackettstown to Netcong.
